a typical scene from raise the red lantern. everything is bigger than the individual. the leading character is the house which stands for the customs, the traditions, anything but the human beings, anything but the women.


no need to say more about this beautifully built up movie. it is speaking for itself visually. which is hard to accomplish but a must to accomplish for a movie maker. of course there is always more than meets the eye. as the master put it: you did not see anything!


well... i wish they have had a better editor. some transitions between and within scenes really distracted me.
